Our Mission & Christian Values

Our Mission

St. James’ and Ebrington School is a church school where the Christian faith lies at the heart of all we do.  We aim to develop the potential of every member of our school – socially, mentally, spiritually and physically.

We treat others with understanding and respect.

Our Vision

Rooted in our Christian understanding of life in its fullness, NCSF schools are safe aspirational learning communities where all are nurtured and cherished to shine and flourish as lights in the world.

Our Christian Values

Each term we have a Christian value which we focus on. This is the same value across all of our Federation schools so that we may learn about them together. The value for the term is displayed in each of our classrooms and forms a cornerstone of our Class and Whole-School Worship.

This half term we will be focusing on the value 'COMPASSION'. Have a look at the home/school values sheet to look at ways in which you may talk to your child about this at home.

Welcome to our Worship Committee!

Our Worship Committee is represented by a member from each year group from Reception to Year 6.

The role of the Worship Committee is to help our school evaluate Collective Worship and find ways to develop its Christian character. We also want to make sure there are special areas, both inside and out, where people can reflect and have the opportunity to be spiritual. We want to support our school as we develop our different values each term.

 Our priorities for 2021-22:

Coming soon - our first meeting will be held at the beginning of November 2021.

Our priorities for 2020-21:

  • To develop new spiritual areas both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • To do an audit of the resources within our spiritual and reflection areas and order new equipment to improve these.
  • To set up Worship daily.
  • To evaluate worship and make suggestions about how we can improve it.

Worships:

St James’ and Ebrington C of E Primary School, we attend collective worship each day.

We explore our current value through the following worships:

Monday -Class Collective Worship

Tuesday - worship led by Reverend Craig Bishop, Church Youth Worker Amy Todd or Curate Jay Niblett

Wednesday - Celebration Worship and Gold Book

Thursday – Whole School Worship

Friday - Whole School Songs of Praise

Our Worship Committee begin the assembly with our worship call and response, they recognise the symbolism of the candle, cross and Bible as the Trinity, and finish all collective worships with reflection of our value and our school prayer.

Other Worships:

Throughout the year, each Class will deliver their own special worship to the school, parents and community around that term's current Christian value. We also hold special worships such as our Pebble worship and Leavers' Service, as well as celebrating Christian events such as Harvest, Christmas and Easter.
