Year 1

A Huge Hello

We've made it to the summer term! Yay! Welcome to your new page for all home learning activities for this summer term. New home school learning activities will now be continued to be uploaded here on a weekly basis and not your class pages (you can still visit these for updates from your class teacher and friends).

A reminder that home learning will consist of:

Maths based on the current unit of work or previous units to consolidate

A fluency task for each day of the week

Reading comprehension sheets/exercises (VIPERS)

A piece of writing to complete

A reminder to read / learn x tables / practice phonics

Spellings (linked to our phonics and tricky words) to be self-tested or tested by an adult at the end of the week

A ongoing project grid with questions/activities/tasks linked to the current topic

Please remember to use your class email address to contact your class teacher, we will still be both regularly checking these.

Topic Home Learning

We've made it to the second summer term! This hopefully means even more sunshine, ice creams and the smell of sun cream, it also means that we have a new topic. Miss Jarret and Miss Karasinski are very excited to be able to share this topic with all our Year 1s and we hope that you enjoy getting stuck into the activities on the project grid.

Our topic for this half term is 'Outer Space', with a focus on Neil Armstrong as a significant individual in History. You will be learning all about everything to infinity and beyond including space, stars, the planets, and astronauts.

Below is a link to our topic grid, on here are exciting tasks and challenges for you to complete. We would like you to choose one of these creative tasks to complete each week. There are some ideas about how to create/present your work but you can be as creative as you wish, and as ever we would love to see what you get up to, so please keep emailing us both.

Please let your learning and interests guide you, there is no limit on what you can do and please don't feel like you have to stick to the project grid. You can create your own projects and choose what areas of space interest you. To help you with this we will continue to look out for interesting videos and resources to help you along the way.
