Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
After 10 weeks of hard training ALL of EC3 took part in the intra-schools competition with events such as javelin, speed bounce, relay and long jump. Congratulations to our Blue team who won the whole event! Sorry that the photos are blurry, I don't know what happened.
The first Cotswold Foorball League 'A' Team qualifying pools was almost completed tonight. St Jeb are still in pole position, but could be overtaken on goal difference if St Catharines can win their postponed match against Blockley. At the other end of the table Bourton on the Water, Mickleton and Blockley are in a tight struggle to earn fourth place and avoid the early play offs, all dependent on the postponed games.
The day opened with a friendly between St James and CCS, the latter winning 2-0 with goals from Malachy Jones and Alex Adams. St James went on to play a goal less draw with Mickleton. Mickleton then suffered a 0-4 defeat to CCS who are still on a 100% record with their season probably over. Only the appearance of a new team at this late stage will see them playing another match. Edward Irwin, Oliver Solomon (twice) and Adams were the scorers.
Mickleton were also beaten by St Davids. Thomas Chamberlain, and Liam Honour (twice) put Saints ahead. Sam Meddins-Fawden netted a late consolation for Mickleton as they lost 3-1. Saints goalkeeper Ellis Muckle deserves a lot of credit for keeping out shots which would have evaded most of the other keepers. St Davids did taste defeat at the hands of St Catharines on another 3-1 scoreline. Matt Hitchings did put them ahead early on, only for Felix Lindner (twice) and Oli Whitehouse to force the win. Recovering quickly, St Davids defeated Bourton on the Water 4-0. Hitchings took advantage of a missed clearance with a cracking shot to the roof of the net. Chamberlain, Winnie Brazil and Hitchings again completed the scoring. The result would have been even worse for Bourton had Cameron Gilson not kept out so many shots from Hitchings and Honour.
The best matches of the night were two draws involving Mickleton. They went down to a well taken early goal by Bourton's Lauren Jefferies, but earned a point when Meddins-Fawden slammed the ball home. Against St Catharines, Mickleton went down to a mishit shot by Felix Lindner which looped high over the keeper. Jackson Wohjan-Parker soon equalised, then put Mickleton ahead with a low, hard shot from a long range free hit. The best goal of the night made it 2-2 in the final minutes. Lindner won the ball in defence and flicked a backhand pass through a couple of defenders to Edward Smith whose dribbling run and perfect shot were admired by all the small crowd.
CCS 4-0 Mickleton
St James 0-0 Mickleton
St Catharines 3-1 St Davids
Bourton on the Water 1-1 Mickleton
St Catharines 2-2 Mickleton
Bourton on the Water 0-4 St Davids
St Davids 3-1 Mickleton
What an amazing day of rugby today! All the children from reception to Y6 took part and some terrific tries were scored! The girls were particularly impressive today, Mrs Kemp (CCS) was very impressed.
After a full on Friday of tag rugby, the eventual winners were Aston with Meon in a close second place. Congratulations Aston, you never gave up and showed great determination throughout the day!
On Thursday 2nd November UKS2 met at Campden Tennis Club to play House Tennis. After playing in-house matches to discover the top four players in each of the four house we moved on to the knock out rounds where some stunning tennis was played.
The final was between Westington and Aston, finishing 7-5 to HB making WESTINGTON THE BESTINGTON House Tennis Champions 2017!
A huge thank you to Geoff from Campden Tennis Club for all your help and encouragement of tennis within our school. You really are a star!
The Cotswold Foorball League 'B' Team Competition started tonight. The CCS team exhibited their best spell of teamwork of the season against a determined young Willersey team, racking up a goal a minute, with the three lines all scoring and changing frequently. This showed a great respect for opponents who were capable of scoring if given the slightest chance. Malachy Jones (2), Angus Tombs (2), Jasmine Chamberlain (2) and Ruby Farrell all scored to back up a fine hat trick by Will Groves. A 10-0 win was no more than the seniors deserved, but would have been even more without the saves of Lily-Belle Wood in Willersey's goal. Blockley were able to borrow a couple of Willersey players against CCS. Tia Goodwin and Theo Beale helped keep the seniors at bay apart from goals by Tombs and Chamberlain. CCS selected several former pupils against St James, three of them scoring. Oliver Solomon, Olivia Peachey and Jones all netted in a match where goals were very hard to come by.
St James earned top qualifying spot in the group with wins over the other primary schools. They defeated Blockley 3-0, Oliver Haydon and Oliver Beale - twice - making the difference. Willersey also earned a 3-0 win over Blockley, Theo Beale netting twice, sandwiching a goal by Goodwin.
The best match of the night was between Willersey and St James. Theo Beale put Willersey ahead and had most of the play until Haydon equalised on the break. Saints now pressed forward, going ahead again through Haydon. Saints were also strong in defence, but conceded a free hit close to goal. Theo Beale spotted a gap at the end of the defence wall and slotted home the equaliser. St James pressed on once more and were denied several times by Wood, but not even she could prevent Haydon's hat trick for the late winner.
CCS 3-0 St James
CCS 2-0 Blockley
CCS 10-0 Willersey
St James 3-0 Blockley
St James 3-2 Willersey
Willersey 3-0 Blockley
