Forgiveness
Forgiveness is vital in sports and games, everyone makes mistakes and sometimes tempers boil over, just ask these boys. Friends should never be unkind to each but sometimes in life we say and do things we wish we hadn’t. Luckily, we can forgive one another and tomorrow is always a new day.
The 'B' Team final will be on Wednesday 25th April 2018 at Fire Service College, Moreton in Marsh, between 1330 and 1500.
The 'B' Team finalists were decided tonight. Dormer House had already guaranteed a place as they could finish no lower than second. St James and Ebrington could reach the final by winning or drawing against holders, Sedgeberrow.
The holders had the best of the early exchanges, Jack Lacey being forced to parry Tom Crawford's shot over the bar. Oliver Haydon then had two good chances, but shot high then wide. Crawford did the same at the other end, then Sedgeberrow had a goal bound shot blocked by Jack Mackinnon.
The deadlock was broken when Saints were awarded a free hit in front of goal. Previous efforts had been blasted against the defence wall. This time Oliver Beale passed across to Billy Corner who shot home. Jubilation was short lived, for Crawford finished a Sedgeberrow attack with a rasping shot which deflected off a defender's stick to the roof of the net. The holders pressed forward for the winner they needed, Crawford shooting narrowly wide once more before the final whistle.
This left Dormer House on top of the group with twenty points and St James & Ebrington one point behind. They will contest the final after Easter. Even after gaining three points for a walkover in their remaining match, Sedgeberrow were a further point behind.
The match was followed by an extended friendly with some older players taking part, which Saints won 5-2. After that the Saints split into two teams led by Mr Daldry and Sally Beale, who as Sally Holmes represented CCS in their victorious National Cup side, as well as playing two matches for England and two matches for Great Britain.
Today's results:
St James & Ebrington 1-1 Sedgeberrow
There were also two friendlies,
St James & Ebrington 5-2 Sedgeberrow
Beale's Bandits 3-4 Daldry's Demons
On Friday, 23rd March 2018 at Fire Service College, Dormer House play Ilmington in the 'A' Team Final and Dormer House play Temple Guiting in the Girls' Team Final.
