  • Floorball B + C Teams 16.1.18

    Wed 17 Jan 2018

The Cotswold Floorball League's 'B' Team competition continued with two new teams entering the fray.  St James & Ebrington 'C' and Temple Guiting both ended up at the bottom of the group, but did not play badly.

CCS lost several players to injury and illness and called on several of the reserve list who played brilliantly on the day. Mery Sutherland had some work to do in earning a 'shut out' for the evening. Oliver Ashton, Holly Burkert and Josh Rushby kept everything else clear in defence. Oliver Solomon, Ruby Farrell, Grace Matthews and Olivia Peachey put on the pressure at the other end as the team tried to maintain its 100% record for the season. Jess Whittingham was supposedly an attacker, but did a great job covering for Rushby when he carried the ball forward. He scored on two such forays in the 2-0 win over St James & Ebrington 'C'. Solomon's hat trick was the foundation of a 5-0 win over Temple Guiting. The first was a neat rebound from Matthews shot which hit the post. Rushby and Farrell added the other two goals.

In the all St James & Ebrington match the 'B' team won with Oliver Haydon's lone goal. The 'B' Team consolidated top qualifying spot with a 5-0 win over Temple Guiting. Oliver Beale netted a hat trick added to by Billy Corner and Haydon.

Willersey claimed second place with two wins. Theo Beale's brace of shots 'in off' luckless defenders was enough for a 2-0 victory over Temple Guiting. The 'C Team' thought that their time for a win was due when Louis Grove put them ahead against Willersey, but fell almost immediately to an equaliser by Tia Goodwin. Zac Duncan -twice- and Beale made the best of the chances which came their way in a 4-1 win.

In the basement battle between the newcomers Temple Guiting came out on top as Harry Keighley and Patrick Upton made it 2-0 against the 'C Team'. Temple Guiting even survived a late power play against them.

Blockley, Temple Guiting and the 'C Team' now move into play offs in two weeks' time. St James & Ebrington B and Willersey wait until 27th February for their next matches.
