  • Floorball Girls 20.11.18

    Wed 21 Nov 2018

The Cotswold Floorball League Girls' Team competition continued tonight with twelve more matches played.  Bourton on the Water showed that they are likely to be the team to beat with a clean sweep of three victories. A hat trick by LJ brought all three points against closest rivals Dormer House. Their tackling, interpassing and shooting impressed everyone, building as it does on performances in previous seasons. North Cotswold SF suffered a 5-0 defeat at their hands. LJ added two more goals to her total, IT added tow more and JS completed the scoring. A feature of this match was the goalkeeping of RS for the Federation who kept out many shots which would have defeated other keepers. St James & Ebrington gave Bourton their toughest match. JS and LJ put Bourton ahead, but TM pulled one back. It took a few minutes of pressure before LJ netted a rebound from her own shot . The Two Graces in the St James & Ebrington defence kept further attacks at bay until LJ added another score for a 4-1 win.

CCS also had a good evening with three wins, improving from match to match. A lone goal by TG settled the tie against St James & Ebrington. TG was on target twice more in a 3-0 win over Dormer House, following LW's opening score. The best performance came against NCSF, each line of players working well as LW, GW and TG each scored in the 3-0 win. EH in goal saved her team many times, particularly in the first game, whilst EB did not put a foot, or pass, wrong in the defence.

Dormer House forward SorC had a fine evening with three goals. The first was all her team needed in a very close match with St James & Ebrington. Her other two scores were against local rivals St Davids, again the only goals of the match. In their final match, against NCSF,  SopC came out of goal to score at the other end. Again, it was the only goal of the match in which NCSF gave their best performance of the day and showed they are quick learners, having played their first ever game earlier in the evening.

NCSF also played well against St Davids, earning a point and having the best of the play in a goalless draw. The Federation suffered a tough defeat against St James & Ebrington who seemed incapable of doing anything wrong. IWC's hat trick laid down the foundations of a 4-0 win, SHH netting the other goal. IWC also scored both in their final win over St Davids.

This leaves Bourton on the Water and Dormer House tied at the top of this qualifying pool, the former having two matches in hand. St James & Ebrington are close behind, whilst St Davids and NCSF are tied at the foot of the table.

On 11th December the lowest placed teams will play to decide who moves into the next stage of play offs.
